Lava rocks disperse flames for a realistic fire, and these 1/2 to 3/4- inch rocks can be used for filling a burner pan if you are adding an outdoor log set or as the main attraction. These natural, vesicular- textured volcanic cinders produced by gas- rich eruptions are guaranteed fire- safe and increase combustion efficiency. For optimal results, our recommendation is to pour a minimum of two inches of lava rock over the firepit burner, which allows the gas to filter evenly through the lava rock media.
